Dr. Carr-Locke, a recognized international leader in interventional pancreatic and biliary endoscopy, is Past-President of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and Past-President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He is currently developing an Endoscopy Institute which will provide the highest quality innovative gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures by creating a multidisciplinary program that aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases and enhance research and training in these areas. He was previously Director of Endoscopy for 17 years, during which he led a period of dramatic growth in services, training and education.He also supervises an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship ("third tier"). He co-directs the Biliary Center, a Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Group, Pancreas Center and GI Bleeding Team. Dr. Carr-Locke's research activities include studies of the endoscopic management of GERD, pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, the clinical application of biliary manometry, application of metallic expandable stents in the management of malignant biliary and duodenal obstruction, endoscopic techniques in portal hypertension, computing in endoscopy, and the assessment of prototype endoscopic equipment.
