Each patient has a bedside telephone, compliments of the hospital. (In the interest of patient care, intensive care areas are the exception.) Local calls within the Metropolitan Boston area are free. Your family and friends can call Patient Information at (617) 732-5500 to learn your bedside number.
To place calls:
- Within the hospital, dial the five-digit extension.
- Within Metropolitan Boston, dial 9, then 1 plus the area code and the seven-digit
telephone number.
- Outside the local calling area, dial 900 to access an AT&T operator. You may charge long-distance calls to your credit card or reverse the charges. You may also use a calling card by dialing 9 and then following the instructions provided by your calling card.
- If you require special telephone equipment, such as a handset for the hearing impaired, please tell your nurse.
