The Boston Adult Congenital Heart (BACH) service is a joint program of BWH and Children's Hospital. It is dedicated to the long-term care of patients age 16 and older with congenital heart disease, defects and related illnesses. The congenital heart disease program is staffed by cardiologists trained in both adult and pediatric congenital heart disease who work with other specialists to provide medical, surgical, obstetric and gynecologic care as well as social and psychiatric support. Our world-renowned physicians are skilled at repairing congenital heart lesions, ranging from the simplest to the most complicated:
- Atrial septal defects, both secundum and primum, with closure often achieved with outpatient catheter-based techniques
- Ventricular septal defects
- Coarctation of the aorta
- Valvular repair and replacement in the young
- Tetralogy of Fallot
