The Behavioral Neurology/Neuropsychiatry Fellowship is a UCNS accredited 1-2 year fellowship program that is open to applicants who have completed residency training in neurology and/or psychiatry.
The fellowship is sponsored by the Center for Brain/Mind Medicine, an interdisciplinary program at Brigham and Women's Hospital comprised of faculty, staff, and trainees from behavioral neurology, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, and social work.
Fellows receive intensive training in the evaluation and treatment of cognitive, behavioral, emotional, motivational, and perceptual symptoms in patients with conditions including degenerative processes such as Alzheimer's, Frontotemporal, Lewy body, and Parkinson's disease, stroke, head trauma, epilepsy, brain tumors, movement disorders, mild cognitive impairment, multiple sclerosis, and developmental syndromes. Fellows are closely supervised by senior behavioral neurologists and neuropsychiatrists, and participate in multidisciplinary teaching rounds, journal club, tutorials, and seminars.
In addition to clinical training and didactics, fellows are expected to become engaged in research with members of the Center. Investigators employ a variety of methods, including neurophysiologic, structural, and functional neuroimaging techniques. Current areas of investigation include aging, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, executive function, attention, memory, emotion, and motivation. Ongoing studies include clinical protocols as well as translational research grounded in basic neurobiology and the cognitive/affective neurosciences.
